The European Art & Education Mozart Music Competition is a prestigious musical event, organized by the MikulskiART Foundation and the European Centre of Art & Education. It aims to promote musical talents from all over the world and popularize classical music, especially the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The competition is a great opportunity for young musicians to present their skills and gain valuable stage experience.

Instrumental Categories

The competition is divided into 6 instrumental categories:

  • Piano
  • Classcal Voice
  • String Instruments: Violin, Viola, Cello
  • Woodwind Instruments: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Saxophone
  • Brass Instruments: Trumpet, French Horn
  • Accordion

Age Categories

Each instrumental category will have 6 age groups:

  • “Professionals” / “Open” category – born before 2000
  • “Young Artist” – born between 2001-2004
  • “Young Talent” – born between 2005-2008
  • “Junior Artist” – born between 2009-2012
  • “Junior Talent” – born between 2013-2016
  •  “Wonder Children” – born after 2017

Thanks to the innovative approach to the organization of the competition, participants will have the opportunity to take part in both online auditions and an exciting final with the Sinfonia Masovia orchestra. This is a unique opportunity that will allow young talents to develop their potential and make valuable contacts in the music world.

The jury of the competition will consist of renowned professors and musicians from Poland and abroad, which guarantees a high level of evaluation and professionalism in the selection of laureates. Prizes for the winners will be not only prestigious but also practical – an audio-video recording of the concert at the renowned Artur Rubinstein Lodz Philharmonic Concert Hall is a perfect showcase for any young artist.

Online broadcasts of the final auditions will make the music resounding from the concert hall available to audiences around the world, which will promote talents and inspire future generations of musicians.   • Competition Format: Online
  • Competition Rounds: Two rounds – Preliminary and Final

 

Repertoire/Program

  • Preliminary Round:
    • Total recording time: Up to 20 minutes
    • Any piece or part of a piece from the Classical era and/or
    • Any piece or part of a piece from the Romantic era
    • *For accordion: The repertoire is free choice, but must include a piece written before the year 1800 and an original composition for accordion.
  • Final Round:
    • Total recording time: Up to 30 minutes
    • Any piece or part of a piece from the Classical era and/or
    • Any piece or part of a piece from the Romantic era and/or
    • Any piece or part of a piece composed after 1945
    • *For accordion: The repertoire is free of choice, but must include a polyphonic form and a cyclic form (at least 3 movements).

 

Recording Requirements

  • Recordings must be made in one camera take. Separate tracks/links for individual pieces are allowed.
  • Pieces can be performed solo or with accompaniment.

 

Important Dates

  • Deadline for sending the recordings for the Preliminary  Round is October 20, 2024
  • Preliminary Round Results Announcement: November 2, 2024
  • Deadline for sending the recordings for the Final Round: November 6, 2024
  • Final Round Results Announcement: November 16, 2024
  • Final Concert: The final concert for the Grand Prix winners and winners in each instrumental category will be held in the Artur Rubinstein Łódź Philharmonic Concert Hall on December 14, 2024.

 

Jury

  • The competition jury will consist of international music authorities in each instrumental category.

Competition Fee

  • Preliminary Round: €60
  • Final Round: €110
  • The fee must be paid at the time of submitting the competition application to the MikulskiART Foundation account.

  • The recruitment fee is non-refundable in the event of a participant’s withdrawal from the competition.

 

Evaluation System

  • Each participant will be evaluated by the jury members on a scale of 0 to 100 points.
  • First Prize: Awarded to participants who score at least 93/100 points.
  • Second Prize: Awarded to participants who score at least 86/100 points.
  • Third Prize: Awarded to participants who score at least 79/100 points.
  • Special Distinction: Awarded to participants who score at least 72/100 points.
  • Honorable Mention: Awarded to participants who score at least 65/100 points.

 

Prizes and Distinctions

  • The overall winner, regardless of instrumental or age category, will receive the “GRAND PRIX European Art & Education Mozart Music Competition” of €1,500 and will be invited to perform in the concert on December 14, 2024, at the Artur Rubinstein Philharmonic in Łódź, accompanied by the “Sinfonia Masovia” Symphony Orchestra.
  • Winners in each instrumental category will receive the “FIRST PRIZE European Art & Education Mozart Music Competition” in their respective category, amounting to €800, and will be invited to perform in the concert on December 14, 2024.
  • Certificates for second and third prize winners.
  • Selected winners will be invited to perform at the EUROPEAN ART & EDUCATION MOZART MUSIC FESTIVAL in 2025.
  • Participation certificates for distinguished participants.
  • Winners will be featured on the competition website and social media (YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram) along with their biography and awarded recording.
  • Selected winners will be invited to join the MOZART MUSIC COMPETITION Alliance project, which includes interviews and reviews in classical music magazines and concert opportunities in Europe.
  • Certificate of recognition for outstanding music teachers (upon request)
  • The organizers aim to provide winners with ongoing support to promote and develop their musical studies and careers on international concert stages.

 

Additional Notes

  • The participant with the highest score will ONLY receive the GRAND PRIZE of the Competition – “GRAND PRIX European Art & Education Mozart Music Competition.”
  • Ex-aequo awards are allowed. EAEMMC reserves the right to divide the “GRAND PRIZE MOZART MUSIC COMPETITION” and “FIRST PRIZE European Art & Education Mozart Music Competition” prize money in the event of a tie.
  • All decisions of the competition jury are final and binding.
